The team TUBular from Technische Universität Berlin – Chair of Space Technology, composed of motivated PhD students, is developing a modular and efficient solution for lunar regolith excavation and processing as part of the Space Resources Challenge. The approach builds on the Chair’s extensive experience in satellite systems, planetary rover development, and in-situ resource utilization technologies. The concept emphasizes adaptability to lunar surface conditions, precise regolith handling, and strict compliance with mass and energy constraints. TUBular collaborates with Polimak Process Technology GmbH for the development of the excavation payload and with Spaceport Rostock for testing in a representative lunar environment. The proposed system focusses on a robust, dust-minimized, and modular design.
