Challenge Partner – Challenge Partners will reward a prize to the best performing team in one of the prize categories listed above. ESA will reward €500,000 to the best performing team overall while Challenge Partners will reward in the selected prize category. Challenge Partners will reward a minimum of €75,000 in the form of their choice (e.g., development contract, in-kind contribution…). Terms and conditions of the contract shall be agreed between the partner and the prize-winning consortium. Please note that a Challenge Partner can only award one of the Challenge Prizes defined by ESA. Challenge Partners will have direct access to confidential information such as how each individual evaluation criterion will be evaluated and will be part of the evaluation board of the field test.

Team Partner – The role of Team Partners will be to provide any kind of support to the team of their choice. Terms and conditions of the contract are to be agreed between the partner and the consortium. A Team Partner can either contribute financially, or play the mentor role. Team Partners will be able to select the team they want to support from phase 1 of the challenge or through matchmaking opportunities organised by ESA among the selected teams for the final phase of the Challenge (see more details on the phases of the Challenge in section ‘’The Second Space Resources Challenge’’). A team can accumulate multiple team partners as long as an agreement can be found among all parties. A point of contact of each selected Team Partner will be given in the Rule Book of the Challenge to ease the contact between teams and partners.
