Official Challenge Funding and Prizes

Field-test preparation support

Each of the five teams selected for the field test will receive a €50,000 ESA Cooperative Agreement to mature its technology and prepare for testing at ESA LUNA.

Final ESA Cooperative Agreement

The Challenge winner will receive a €500,000 ESA Cooperative Agreement to advance its technology towards commercialisation and a potential future in-space demonstration.

Luxembourg Space Agency Prize

The Luxembourg Space Agency has made an additional €500,000 prize available to complement ESA’s €500,000 Cooperative Agreement. The awards may support two winners with €500,000 each or provide one winner with combined support of €1 million but must fund separate development activities. Further information and applicable conditions will be published on this page. Please note, while companies who apply for the Luxembourg prize do not need to be registered in Luxembourg, only Luxembourgish companies are eligible to receive the prize.

External Participant Offers

External organisations may make optional products, services or other forms of support available to Challenge participants. Offers are administered directly by the organisations concerned.

Hispansion offers Space Resources Challenge participants procurement options for its lunar regolith simulants. Further information on the offer and applicable conditions is available here.

Participation in external offers is entirely optional. Inclusion on this page does not constitute an endorsement by ESA or ESRIC and has no bearing on Challenge eligibility, evaluation or selection. Teams remain free to obtain materials and services from any supplier.
